Canberra’s climate presents unique challenges, and for decades many homes were built without fully considering how they would perform throughout the seasons. Designs often looked impressive, yet failed to deliver comfort, energy efficiency, or long-term durability.
In 2016, the founders of Edward Robert Builders crossed paths while working on construction projects across the region—one specialising in carpentry and construction, the other in project management for large-scale developments. Both saw the same recurring issues: poor thermal performance, inefficient building methods, and homes that didn’t suit the realities of Canberra’s environment.
Recognising the need for a more thoughtful approach, they established Edward Robert Builders in 2018. The goal was straightforward: create homes that are comfortable year- round, intelligently designed, and built with long-term performance in mind.
From the outset, the company has focused on construction that responds to Canberra’s climate, prioritising quality, sustainability, and careful detailing. Today, the team collaborates with architects, designers, and building scientists to deliver high-performance homes that not only look exceptional but also provide a superior living experience.
What began as a shared frustration has grown into a commitment to lifting building standards across the ACT—one well-designed home at a time.
