Edward Robert Builders (“we”, “us”, “our”) builds and renovates homes in Canberra and Queanbeyan. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We only collect personal information we need to respond to you and to plan, quote and build your project. This may include:

  • your name, email address, phone number and postal or site address
  • details about your project, such as the type of work, your timeframe, budget, plans, drawings and photos you share with us
  • information needed to prepare a contract and carry out the work, such as property details and payment information
  • records of our conversations with you, by email, phone or in person
  • information about how you use our website, collected through cookies (see below)

How we collect it

Most information comes straight from you: when you fill in an enquiry or quote form on our website, email or call us, or meet with us. Our website enquiry forms are provided by our customer relationship management (CRM) provider, which stores your enquiry so we can follow it up. We may also receive information from people working on your project with you, such as your architect, designer or building certifier.

How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and give you a quote
  • plan, design, build and hand over your project, including any warranty and maintenance work
  • meet our legal, insurance and licensing obligations
  • keep you up to date about your project
  • improve our website and our services
  • show relevant advertising, and measure whether our advertising works

If we send you marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. These are small files stored by your browser that help the site work and tell us how it is used.

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website, such as which pages are viewed and for how long. This information is aggregated and does not identify you to us. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Meta Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms (the owner of Facebook and Instagram). It records actions taken on our website, such as viewing a page or sending an enquiry, so that we can measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising and show our ads to people who are likely to be interested in them, including people who have visited our website. Meta may combine this with other information it holds about you under its own privacy policy. You can control the ads you see in your Meta ad preferences.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website may not work as well if you do.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to run our business and deliver your project, including with:

  • trades, suppliers, consultants, engineers and certifiers working on your project
  • service providers who support our business, such as our website host, CRM and email providers, accountants and IT support
  • Google and Meta, through the analytics and advertising tools described above
  • government bodies, insurers or others where the law requires or allows it

Information stored overseas

Some of our service providers, including Google, Meta and our CRM and email providers, may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. When we no longer need it, and the law does not require us to keep it, we destroy or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
